If you are wondering if you have tinnitus symptoms but are not sure exactly what this means then you would probably have already done a lot of research on the subject of ringing in the ears, mainly known as tinnitus.
There are a variety of tinnitus symptoms that you may be experiencing and your first port of call would probably be your doctor to have your earing checked out thoroughly. However, if you are experiencing a continuous, low pitched, irritating constant noise in your ear, the diagnosis could well be tinnitus. However, an acquaintence recently had a very frightening loud buzzing in her left ear for several days, but on a visit to her doctor he informed her that her ear was blocked with wax. After a syringe, the buzzing noise in her left ear, stopped.
However, you will want to do as much research on tinnitus symptoms to get a good idea what may be going on – so please read this informative article on Tinnitus Symptoms which will help you to gain more knowledge on the subject of tinnitus.
Tinnitus can be a really debilitating impairment; hence I was interested to read in Science Daily that targeted nerve stimulation could actually reverse tinnitus in the longer-term.
Dr Michael Kilgard and Dr Navzer Engineer of University of Texas at Dallas and University-affiliated biotechnology firm Micro Transponder have reported after research, vagus nerve stimulus had got rid of tinnitus in rats.
Obviously the aim of many people who live with the irritation of tinnitus, want to stop the ringing in the ears that this brings. Science Daily has reported that the US Veterans Administration pays up to $1billion yearly on disability payments for tinnitus sufferers.
Tinnitus can affect more than 10 percent of the elderly population and a higher 40 percent of military personnel.
You can read more of this very interesting and informative article at – http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/01/110112132130.htm, which also states that further research is taking place on this project of, hopefully, a cure for the irritation of tinnitus.
